Top of the 148 cm long freezecore, showing the perfectly preserved sediment-water interface (brownish-yellow, due to the higher oxygen content in pore-water compared to the blackish grey anaerobic older sediments). The top of the black layer is 1993, where a high sediment discharge event buried sediments from 1992 which contained high organic contents due to low oxygen concentration in the summer water column.
